What is STASH?
STASH makes it easy to put money aside from your tips or tronc without having to move money around manually.
You choose how much to save. The rest happens automatically.
Your savings earn interest in your Easy Access Savings Account, provided by Griffin (a UK-registered bank), and your money is protected up to £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
How to Set STASH Up
Once STASH is live in your Grateful account:
Log into your Grateful account
Go to the STASH section
Register your details - takes about 2 minutes!
Choose how much you want to save
A percentage of your tips/tronc
Confirm your selection
That’s it.
Your savings will automatically be deducted each time tips or tronc are paid.
What Happens Next?
Each pay cycle:
Your chosen amount is deducted (post tax) from your tips payout
That amount is automatically added to your STASH savings account
It will start earning interest immediately
Your remaining tips are paid to you as normal
You stay in control at all times. You can:
Access your money whenever you want to, without fees or penalties
Change how much you save
Pause saving
Resume saving
Why Use STASH?
Saving can be hard, especially when income changes month to month.
STASH helps by:
Saving automatically during busy periods
Building a buffer for quieter months
Supporting long-term financial confidence
Reducing the pressure to rely on short-term borrowing
Helping you grow your savings with great interest rates
Research shows people who save through payroll are significantly more likely to build meaningful savings over time, as automation makes it super easy for you.
How STASH Is Different
STASH is not early wage access.
It does not advance earnings.
Instead, it helps you build savings from income you’ve already earned, supporting long-term financial stability.
