Overview

Setting up Stash in your payroll system is a simple, one-time configuration.

This setup typically takes less than 2 minutes.

Once complete, ongoing processing mirrors pension deductions.

Step 1 - One-off Setup in Your Payroll Software

  1. Create a new net deduction code in your payroll software

    • This is usually located under additions/deductions

    • Select post-tax

    • Suggested name: “Payroll Savings”

  2. Link the deduction code to employees who opt in to Stash

  3. Run a quick test or “parallel run” to ensure:

    • The deduction shows correctly

    • Gross pay is unaffected

That’s it.

You only need to complete this once.

Step 2 - Each Pay Cycle

In the Grateful Portal:

  1. Download your Tronc reports as normal

  2. Payroll savings are outlined on a new additional column called "Savings Amount"

In Your Payroll Software:

  1. Import or enter the savings amounts

  2. Run payroll as normal - savings appear as a net deduction

  3. Make a single bulk payment to the savings provider

This payment covers all participating employees, regardless of how many are saving.

Important Notes

  • Savings are post-tax

  • No impact on gross pay

  • No change to tip or tronc processing

  • No per-employee payment handling required

The process is structured and predictable, mirroring pension administration.
